As the weather warms up in the Southern Hemisphere, I really feel its time we talked about camping. We have plenty to talk about...it can be pretty hard work camping with little people, but once you've got yourself organised, it can also be a wonderful experience. Over the next few posts, we are going to chat about what to take, and how to do it, plus hear some great experiences from those who have braved camping with really really little people.
Before we really delve deeper into the great outdoors, and for those of you who are perhaps slightly nervous about camping, I just wanted to leave you with a wonderful link that really broadens your horizons about being at one with canvas! Finally, a snatched 5 minutes away from my two kiddos to share some of my travel tips from a recent jaunt.
ReplyDeleteI met Jo (mummy hip) on the fantastic Bizness Babes course, we sat next to each other on day one and discovered not only did we both come from the U.K but went to the same Uni, same campus, same year. Small world eh!
I have two girls, Winnie 3.5 and Rosie Button, 17 months. Last weekend we headed off to Aireys Inlet. We stayed at Aireys Inlet getaway. A perfect stay for families as it has everything there you could need. Modern tidy villas, all mod cons, excellent bbq area, tennis court, pool and spa. My kids loved the feeding the cockatoos and parrots from the deck, seed supplied at reception. Also plenty of kids films and games to choose from. With a travel cot and high chair available on request, this made the packing a touch easier, if that is ever possible with kids. You always need as much stuff for a weekend as you would a few weeks.
The location is right next to the inlet, a perfect water play area for kids, calm, safe water, right next to a playground and a short stroll to the lighthouse and cafe which by the way does amazing homemade scones.
I purchased a water play table for the trip. Ideal for warm days and kept Rosie busy for hours. $39 from Big W.
A great activity which also helps mum is making kebabs. I diced up vegetables and haloumi and let Winnie make the kebabs up. She loved it and was more than happy to tuck in to her creations.
The local pub was a find too. Really kid friendly, huge boat sand pit, lots of running area and great food.
My only grumble was that the trip had to end. 3 nights is nowhere near enough but happy to have had a change from the grind!
May check in after Christmas as will have had our yearly camping trip to talk of.
